"Your essay lists five activities but doesn't show why any of them matter to you. Pick the one you'd do even if no one was watching—that's the one worth 200 words. Cut the rest or mention them briefly."
"You jumped straight to the solution without showing your reasoning. Walk through why you rejected other approaches first—admissions readers want to see how you think, not just that you got the right answer."
"'I want to attend TJ because it's a good school' tells them nothing. Flip it: what specific problem do you want to solve, and why can you only do it at TJ? That's your real answer."

This course is administered via Google Classroom and Zoom. Google Classroom is a highly intuitive platform that students often use at school. The course includes pre-recorded videos and guides that teach students how to plan, structure, and write their responses, along with examples and templates. After working through the material each week, students come to class prepared to discuss the edits made to their work. The Zoom sessions are run similar to an in-person classroom, with cameras on and screen sharing.
We limit our group size to a maximum of 6 students for instructional sessions. This ensures that students receive enough individualized attention while benefiting from a variety of perspectives by seeing and editing each other's responses. Each student receives individualized line-by-line feedback on all of their assigned homework each week. For optional workshops, students from across all sections are invited to attend.
No worries! We record at least one session each week and post it in Google Classroom. If you miss a session, you can watch the recording to catch up. If you have any questions after watching the recording, you can contact your instructor for assistance at any time.
Each batch (Summer, Fall, and Winter) covers the same curriculum, so you only need to pick one. Choose the batch that aligns best with your schedule and where the student feels most engaged. While all batches provide high-quality instruction, the Summer and Fall batches often offer more individualized attention due to lower enrollment compared to the Winter batch, which tends to have the highest demand.
Yes. This course can be taken in 7th or 8th grade. However, students will benefit most in 8th grade when their extracurricular experiences are more developed, allowing them to write stronger essays. Until then, we strongly recommend students complete our self-paced course.
The self-paced online course has statistically similar admission rates to live coaching, as it follows a very similar curriculum. If the student is willing to commit to completing the course, the self-paced course is a great fit and a more affordable choice. However, if you prefer live coaching with more instructor support, small group coaching is the better option.
