Frequently Asked Questions

Practical answers for parents deciding whether live coaching is the right fit.

Students use Google Classroom for weekly assignments, examples, recordings, and feedback. Live Zoom sessions are working meetings: students discuss strategy, review real drafts or PSE work, and leave knowing what must improve before the next submission.

Most weeks require about 4-7 hours outside the live session. The program is best for students who will submit work consistently; the value comes from the weekly revision cycle, not passive attendance.

Instructional sections are capped at 8 students. That keeps feedback personal while still giving students a useful peer group to compare approaches, arguments, and revision choices. Larger optional workshops may include students from multiple sections.

An unavoidable conflict is not a problem. Students have extracurriculars, tournaments, travel, and school events that cannot always move, so we post a full weekly session recording in Google Classroom. Students can watch the class, keep submitting work, and follow up with questions afterward. The live section helps most when students attend consistently, but missing an occasional session should not derail the course.

No. Each session covers the same curriculum, so families choose one. Summer is the fastest way to build the plan before school starts, Fall gives a steady weekly rhythm during school, and Winter is closest to the exam and usually has the highest demand.

It can be, but most students benefit most in 8th grade, when their activities, stories, and application materials are more developed. A strong 7th grader can take the course if they are ready for the workload; otherwise, self-paced prep or 1:1 advising is often the better first step.

The underlying curriculum is similar. Self-paced is a strong fit for independent students who will follow through on their own. Small Group Coaching is for families who want live instruction, weekly deadlines, line-by-line feedback, and a clear outside cadence through the application season.
