Feedback they can actually use.
We read the responses your student submits and explain what needs work: a vague SPS story, a missing step in the PSE, or a point that needs evidence. Unlimited feedback means they can revise and try again.
TJ Small Group Coaching
Work through the SPS and PSE with TJHSST alumni who know the process. Your student gets a clear weekly plan, unlimited feedback on their responses, and support all the way to exam day.
The same full-season program, with three ways to schedule the core classes.

More than a weekly class
A class should leave your student clearer, not with another stack of work they don’t know how to approach.
We read the responses your student submits and explain what needs work: a vague SPS story, a missing step in the PSE, or a point that needs evidence. Unlimited feedback means they can revise and try again.
Questions do not have to wait for the next class. Your student can ask for help with a lesson, a draft, or an unfamiliar problem, and follow up on the feedback they receive.
Full session recordings and 24/7 materials access help students keep up around tournaments, travel, and school commitments. Everything is online, so there is no extra drive.
All 10 proctored practice exams are included. Timed SPS and PSE work, scoring, and detailed feedback help students see what to work on before the real assessment.
Week by week
Most weeks involve about 4-7 hours of work outside the live session. We use that time to build on what your student needs, not just keep them busy.
Complete a focused SPS or PSE assignment in Google Classroom. Bring the parts that were difficult, not just the answers that came easily.
Discuss approaches with your instructor, ask questions, and learn from how other students tackled the same challenge.
Revise with specific notes on your response. Ask follow-up questions and carry what you learned into the next assignment.
Every cohort includes workshops, the 10-exam practice series, unlimited feedback, and support through exam day. You choose the core class schedule, not a shorter version of the program.
Who is guiding your student?
Neil is a TJHSST alumnus, former TJ Endowment Fund Board Member, and UVA McIntire graduate with over a decade of TJ prep experience. He leads our alumni team’s curriculum and feedback standards.
The focus is on your student’s actual work: what they chose to say, how they reasoned, and how to make the next response clearer.

Student Portrait Sheet
Choose meaningful examples from your own life. Explain what you did, why you did it, and what you learned, in your own voice.
Problem-Solving Essay
Work through unfamiliar math and science problems. Make your setup, assumptions, and reasoning easy for a reader to follow.
Students practice planning and typing their responses under time pressure. The goal is to use what they have learned when the prompt is unfamiliar and the clock is running.

Ask us about your student
Winter is a complete run of the core course, not the next level after Fall. Students start with Session 1 and cover the same core curriculum. You do not need to take Summer or Fall first.
“Winter” describes when your instructional sessions meet. The included practice-exam series and optional workshops run across the season, and your student can begin available pre-course work before the first live class.
This is a scheduled course, not a drop-in tutoring class. We plan the sequence of instruction, practice exams, and workshops around TJ’s admissions season. Each section moves through its core lessons together, with time to practice and use feedback between meetings.
Your section’s live classes follow the published dates, not a new schedule that begins the week you enroll. That does not mean your student has to wait to begin preparing.
After enrolling, use the confirmation instructions to join Google Classroom and complete the intake form. Start with the pre-course modules, then the available Weeks 1 and 2 work, math packets, and conceptual videos.
Your student can ask questions and request more practice if they finish the available work. Check the full schedule for included exams and optional workshops before your core classes begin.
The full 10-exam series is still included, including exams whose live dates have passed. Those can be completed through the self-proctored option, using the instructions and submission deadlines provided with your access.
Use the posted recordings in Google Classroom for missed teaching sessions. You cannot attend a past event live. If your chosen core section has already begun, contact us before enrolling so we can review what your student would need to catch up on.
We post a full session recording in Google Classroom. Your student can watch it, keep submitting work, and ask follow-up questions. Attending regularly helps, but an occasional tournament, trip, or school event does not have to derail prep.
Most weeks involve about 4-7 hours outside the live session. Students get the most from coaching when they submit work consistently and use the feedback to revise.
Feedback on SPS and PSE responses, with line-by-line notes on writing and reasoning. Students can revise, resubmit, and ask follow-up questions throughout the program. Support continues through exam day.
Core sections are planned for 8 students. Larger optional workshops bring together students from multiple sections, and makeup attendance can change the group size. The focus in core classes is on discussion, questions, and individual students’ work.
It can be, if your student is ready for the workload. The program is designed primarily for 8th graders, whose activities and experiences are more developed. Self-paced prep is another option for students who want to start earlier and work at their own pace.
Both focus on TJ’s SPS and PSE. Small Group Coaching adds live instruction, regular assignments, unlimited response feedback, workshops, and the full 10-exam series. Self-Paced offers more flexibility without a fixed weekly class.
